Through extensive discussions with Telecom industry leaders, Plugin Optics, Inc. was founded on the principles that “last mile” optical networking and FTTx architecture should be “Open” and “Universal” to accommodate both Greenfield and Brownfield deployments. These discussions resulted in the successful launch of the UBM “Universal Bulkhead Module” that includes a suite of optical Splitter, Tap and Interconnect solutions. With a continued focus on “Open” solution innovation for the last mile, Plugin has since released thermoplastic HDPE “stackable” Pedestals, Grade Level Vaults, and reduced footprint LGX-WDM modules. All of Plugins innovative solutions are designed to reduce capital expenditures, logistics cost, and time to deploy for modern day service provider networks.
Our Story
Back in 2020 the founders of PlugIn Optics set out to drive innovation and modernization into last mile fiber networks that are often neglected and overlooked. Through years of M&A and attrition this part of service providers network was really only served by 2 or 3 vendors, who had no reason to bring new low cost solutions to market. PlugIn Optics strives to change that.
PlugIn Optics uses a consultative approach to fiber optic network operators everyday challenges. With the agility to quickly source, design, and implement solutions and over 30 years of experience, we build carrier grade solutions that make sense for our customers. Our innovative solutions are built to remove time, cost, and complexity from modern day service provider networks.

At PlugIn Optics we set out to provide innovative solutions for your fiber optic network and do it in a way that will change the way you ship, warehouse, transport, and install those solutions. No matter if we start with a mature, legacy product, something established and simple, or something completely new we approach it with the environment in mind.
The company’s main environmental impacts and aspects relate to: Do our solutions take up less space? Reduced footprint in the network, transport vehicle, and warehouse saving fuel and HVAC costs.
Can it be universally deployed in a multitude of places/applications? Single use products can often be deployed cheap, but are often considered disposable creating waste. The more areas a product can be used the more likely it will be to be reused, reducing waste.
Will it be something that can be used in the network for the next generation of network evolution? Solutions that are built with the future in mind can be used no matter what the next evolution of networking products require. Creating future looking solutions not only adds value to the network operator but drastically reduces waste as they do not have to be forklifted during network upgrades.
PlugIn Optics strives to keep the environment at the forefront of thought with each employee encouraged to recommend ways to make an impact. As a rule recycling and re-use of materials will be carried out where possible and where not, due care will be exercised in respect of waste disposal in accordance with current compliance obligations.
